Our little piece of the world.

As I sit here in the silence, so peaceful and alone with my thoughts I can't help but sit back and feel so blessed by what God has done for me and my family. I feel like I'm literally basking in this warm glow of His favor, grace, absolute love and well, blessings.
Here I sit on this big beautiful bed in this amazing house on the beach, getting to love on and hang out with two awesome dogs...For my job. Then, once I'm all done here in a few days I get to go home to this man that God has specifically prepared just for me. We have an asshole-ninja, blue eyed, smash-your-face-with-his, cuddly, soft, most wonderful kitty... A warm home, safe cars and family and friends that we love, and they love and support us...
And that's just the tip of the iceberg!!

As you can guess, I made it back to North Carolina safely. I got home the night of September 7th, 2013.
And I'm just now getting back into the groove of things.

I had a great trip back. Between getting to spend more time with my maid of honor Rachel up in Portland, Oregon and my cousin Steph and her husband Bobby in Seattle, Washington, the beauty of Montana and getting to see several more states I hadn't yet seen before, I'm so glad I got to do it that way. Just me and Navi' on the open road :)
Riley and I also had a good, learning experience from being away from eachother for about 3 weeks right after having our wedding. Something that kind of caught my eye while on the road headed back to North Carolina from Oregon was all the towns and companies called "Mitchell" (My maiden name) I don't know if it was because I was more aware of my name being changed or what, but what I took from it was, it was like,
"byyyeeeee, I'm a Shepherd now.....I'll miss you...?"
As I passed all of them, it sort of stood for the whole "leaving your mother and father" thing when you get married, you're done with your old ways, your old life, you are no longer just someones daughter you're someones wife now.

That's how I see the world, the significance of a thing, the matter...what it means on a deeper level that other people might not see. And, in some cases people may think that I've just gone off my rocker and this girl is crazy, but - that's the beauty...We all see the world in a unique and special way. I heard something the other day that intrigued me;
There was this teacher in front of his classroom, he held up a book and asked the class what color it was. The class all simultaneously shouted out "black!" The teacher gave them another minute to think about it then asked again, what color is the book I'm holding? Again, they all yelled out "black! The book is black!" He continued to shake his head and say no, the book is not black, it's red. This went on like this for a few minutes when finally the teacher turned the book around and clear as day, the book was red...on the side he was looking at. This just goes to show, unless you've seen both sides of the book, or heard both sides of the story...Don't be too quick to jump.

So, I'm back now. We've gotten several things for the house that we needed, and by the way, a huge thank you to those of you that blessed us with wedding gifts!
Riley and I are better than ever, Navi's getting big and we're quickly realizing we are more than ready for a bigger home...And now for the next thing in our life - preparing for our move to Italy! It still hasn't hit me all the way I don't think but it still definitely feels like a crazy dream. We've learned so many ridiculous things about living over there like, you have to pay for bags and carts at their "grocery stores", you have to use these coupon things for your gas, there is an old pre-Roman gravesite right on the military support site...Italy has been known to have a few tornadoes...Just random, weird things. Of course we're still learning, and always will be I'm sure.

I hope everyone is having an amazing day, or night, whatever it is where you are and remember, you are loved!
