I Could Get Used To This

Today we went to the beach! It was such a beautiful beach, it was about 90 degrees outside, the surface of the water was 74 degrees, the sand was equally as amazing. White, warm, no rocks or ickiness...compared to the Oregon coast; all rocky, cold, gray...This beach was just, amazing. I loved it. I loved it so much, I wanna go back every day!!
Riley and I walked along the shore for awhile, just enjoying the beach, and eachothers company, looked at seashells, searched for shark teeth, and soaked up the sun...
It was on the base, Camp Lejeune. And about 20 minutes from where Riley lives...
I could get used to this.

On the way to the beach, I got to see a lot more of Camp Lejeuene. It's so cool seeing that kinda stuff. The tanks, the training grounds, the random burger king on the corner ; )

We had some good news  yesterday on this end of the country. Riley has been working so hard at picking up rank (getting a promotion, in the Navy) for so long, and then last night, he got the news. He got it!! He is now an E5! Out of the 4000 people in the military that took the test, only 400 passed. He was in that 10% group of people who got the promotion. I am so proud of him, words can't even describe how proud I am of him. And I got to be here when his life changed : ) seeing him as happy as he was yesterday was truly a blessing. He told me today that he feels as if he's on top of the world. "Everything is coming together" seeing someone else happy, makes me happy : )

So yesterday morning, Riley and I both woke up at 4:00am, almost simultaneously. And were both wide awake. So we settled in to watch tv. What did we watch? Home Improvement, Saved By The Bell, Full House...remember those shows? Yea...I remember I was laying on the floor, Riley in the chair, and I remember thinking, we were doing this same exact thing 10 years ago, watching these corny shows, having sleepovers, just being kids. It was such a serene feeling, knowing that everything Riley and I have been through, all these years, countless discussions, situations, friends, distance...and here we are, finally on the same time zone, physically and mentally... I'm reminded of that movie The Time Travelers Wife.

So, I guess you could say I'm beaming with happiness : ) I want to say life couldn't get any better than this, but I know it will : )
