Almost there!!

Day #4.

 I woke up to a steady stream of rain this morning, but because I have hotel curtains I can't see. So I get up to look, no....it's not rain, it's just the traffic. This is something I'm so not used to.

Welcome to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Yesterday I traveled from Lawton, Oklahoma to where I'm at this morning, Albuquerque, NM. It took about 8 hours (including a couple stops at attractions) when I got to my hotel I was BEAT. And feeling irritable, snappy, oversensitive, surly....you get the point. Word of advice, don't take a 4000 mile road trip during you "time of the month".

I had such a fun time though, staying with my friend Tami and her family. I was so grateful that they let me stay with them and that it was on my route.

Before I got to her house I stopped in Justin, Texas and hand delivered 4 bottles of wine a girl had ordered from me off etsy.com. It was actually a pretty cool experience, and I bet when she ordered them she never expected me to be able to deliver them in person!!

So then I traveled back across the "smoke stack" of Texas and into what I like to call No Service New Mexico. It's so cool to see the drastic difference in terrain coming from North Carolina to New Mexico.

 CADILLAC RANCH!!

Glenrio, TX...Route 66 ghost town

 Something else I would like to point out...This is something I literally just learned like two weeks ago;
(and until then, on all my previous trips, I had paid on average between $80-$120 a night for hotel rooms)
If you are traveling, try to book your hotels the day before on a website called

The most I've paid for the hotels I've stayed in this time was $46.00. Seriously. And they're nice hotels too, not shoddy like some are.
You may have already known this but I couldn't believe that I a) didn't take the time to learn this a long time ago and b) utilized this information starting on my very first road trip 3 years ago.

Also, if you're in, or affiliated with the military (must have a military ID card) you can also stay on any military base for a lot cheaper too.

And while we're on the "giving advice" kick...It doesn't hurt to travel with an extension cord. It doesn't have to be a long, orange one, just a little one, because most hotels' plug ins aren't where you need them to be.

Next stop, LAS VEGAS!
